UM Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute Adapted Sports Program

Mission:

The Adapted Sports Program maximizes participation for individuals with disabilities in adapted recreational and competitive sports, in order to promote independence, self-confidence, health and overall well-being through structured, individual and team sports.

Vision:

The Adapted Sports Program will be the regional leader in sports opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities and be a resource for individuals searching for sports programs in conjunction with our community partners in the area of adapted sports.

Education:
Integral part of the greater community by performing outreach activities to help other disabled individuals enjoy the benefits of adapted sports and to educate the public on adapted sports opportunities

Encourage athletes to be community leaders and role models for people with disabilities

Enable participants to realize the potential and instill a sense of pride and confidence, focusing on their abilities, not disabilities.
