A patient is allowed to have a designated person. This person must be 18 years of age and able to provide emotional support. This person can be alternated per the patient's wishes. This designated support person can have access to the patient 24 hours a day, 7 days a week unless deemed inappropriate by the health care team, or if their presence interferes with patient care, compromises others' rights, safety or is no longer therapeutic. This is considered a special visitation request outside of defined hours and may be approved by the Patient Care Manager (PCM) or designee after collaborating with the health care team.
